Default Travelling through South America

Flying in south america is a bit costly and trains are limited, so buses are the most common way of getting around. There are however quite a few first class buses which are very comfortable. I've taken a few of them in the past and they can lean back a lot and I was able to sleep easily. They are reasonably prices as well. Many of the countries in SA appear to have a tourist route which everybody seems to follow as I kept running into the same people. Probably one of the suggested routes from the lonely planet will take you to the most visited places (well. that's kinda obvious)..
