I am sorry, but I have had trouble with volvo dealerships! I have a mechanic about an hour away, but he said it is okay to keep driving the car and he would get back to me on the price. He is very reliable, but since it is a volvo there seems to be more time involved because you have to have the volvo part. I am in a remote area of NC and I don't think anyone nearby works on imported cars except the suburu dealership. Help!Realistically, how much should I be expected to pay the mechanic for this procedure? The wheel bearing is $30.00.Jake, Thanks for the estimator web site!<I> How great those videos are! Blondie and Brian Zuk!!!! You are so right!!!!

You forgot to say "Spiritually Speaking" - otherwise, PERFECT! LOL I really wouldn't know how to help you dear, you got me on this one - I've never been a Volvo kinda guy. But if it's any consolation, count your blessings that you don't have to deal with a Lambo dealership for eventual repairs! ;-) Then again, I'd imagine if we ever have to ask how much a repair is gonna cost, or if we're being ripped off in the process [assume you'll ALWAYS be ripped off, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER; be it by the dealership gang or otherwise] we're probably driving the wrong kinda car; no matter how seemingly safe and/or exhilarating the ride. Good Luck and have FUN!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74xiXRxkKxchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOUm1Nyh_xgHERE IS A GENERAL TIP: If you can afford to spend the time and effort [and it won't actually end up costing you more in lost productivity than any price advantage that you might eventually be able to obtain] take your car to the dealership first for a no-obligation/free repair estimate. … That should give you a good upper-limit gestimate of what the repair (new, original parts + labor) is gonna cost you. ... Then you have a good idea of what to expect when you start shopping around; but be extremely suspicious of those too-good-to-be-true estimates. ... And do NOT be shy to ask about their guarantee policy and whether or not they use NEW, ORIGINAL parts. In other words: try not to compare apples with oranges, or you could easily end up with a pale lemon for an Easter egg..

I went to Midas recently for the same issue. Because they are all over the place and warranty their services, I thought that it was as safe of a bet as anything else (unless you know a local mechanic whom you trust). Total cost was right around 300 bucks, perhaps just slightly less, and that included an oil change and tire rotation.
