http://www.lebenshunger.com/index.htmlI saw a customer with a gsd from this breeder and it was amazing. It was very friendly, it let me pet it after it smelled my hands. The owner said it is the best dog, and it goes every where with him. This breeder is in Maine. He said they are imported from Germany and he has been breeding for 15 years. Also, you put 900 dollars down before they are born then 900 after. Total is 1800. This is imported, pure 100% germanAnother one which looks good, although i don't know any customers is this one. http://www.brownhillshepherds.com/ The parents are show dogs and it shows them with ribbons, they charge 1200 for a dog. This one it looks like you get more for your money. I called them up and they said this is an American gsd. On saturday i plan on going on a 4 hour trip to Bangor,Maine. He said you can use paypal to pay the 900 before birth then 900 after or when u pick what pup u want. I believe he also ships the dog which is quite dissapointing, although the dogs seem amazing. I live near the Boston area of Massachusetts, and want a pup in JulyCan you guys take a look at each of the link and tell me what you think.ThanksAlso, i can't take it to obedience classes, since I live far away, and cannot bring it there every so often

Actually, both look pretty good. What I liked about Brownhill shepherds is that they do agility, herding and tracking with their dogs - so their line has the brains to work. Both do OFA on hips and elbows. Both say the puppies are home raised and well socialized. Both give guarantees, with Brownhill even including obedience classes for your puppy! I'd say, have a look at both places if you can, meet some of their dogs and go with the one you prefer. A good breeder is an invaluable resource for the life of your dog.Edit - GSD from Germany are heavier boned than American dogs.

On the face of it, neither seems to at least be a puppy mill. I would inquire in more detail about the guarantees from both - on the first one, two years is the bare minimum for OFA testing for hips - so you would have to get the pup tested literally on its second birthday - not realistic. So I'd press them on that issue and how they handle it. They have a lot of dogs and are larger breeding operations. The second one seems a smaller operation and seems on the face of it to be pretty good.
