Default What German Shepherd Breeder looks better?

http://www.lebenshunger.com/index.htmlI saw a customer with a gsd from this breeder and it was amazing. It was very friendly, it let me pet it after it smelled my hands. The owner said it is the best dog, and it goes every where with him. This breeder is in Maine. He said they are imported from Germany and he has been breeding for 15 years. Also, you put 900 dollars down before they are born then 900 after. Total is 1800. This is imported, pure 100% germanAnother one which looks good, although i don't know any customers is this one. http://www.brownhillshepherds.com/ The parents are show dogs and it shows them with ribbons, they charge 1200 for a dog. This one it looks like you get more for your money. I called them up and they said this is an American gsd. On saturday i plan on going on a 4 hour trip to Bangor,Maine. He said you can use paypal to pay the 900 before birth then 900 after or when u pick what pup u want. I believe he also ships the dog which is quite dissapointing, although the dogs seem amazing. I live near the Boston area of Massachusetts, and want a pup in JulyCan you guys take a look at each of the link and tell me what you think.ThanksWhat is the difference between a German shepherd imported from Germany, which is the lebenshunger or an American German Shepherd which is the other one

Do some reading & research before you choose a puppy, there are differences in the lines, differences based on what you want in a GSD. Whichever you choose, make certain you see the OFA & CERF results and know what the guarantees are.http://www.justshepherds.com/debate.htmhttp://leerburg.com/gsd-gate.htmhttp://www.geocities.com/thepuppourri/gsd.htmlhttp://www.justshepherds.com/wgshow.htmEither breeder looks reputable, they show & title the dogs, OFA, etc. There is nothing disappointing about shipping dogs, many reputable breeders ship--how do you think they got the dogs imported from Germany? They're shipped.

personally i would pick the first one. they look a lot healthier to me. and the website looks like it took a longer time to design. so they probably really care about their dogs. go with your gut. no matter what you'll make the right choice. plz just be careful when choosing a dog. usually you cant give a dog back to the breeder. so choose carefully. when picking out your dog watch its behavior to make sure its eating sleeping and playing correctly. always make sure your dog has no fleas, ticks, or injures before purchasing..hope i helpedhope i helped

I would select the first breeder with the German dogs. That breeder is at least using German dogs for breeding with titles and guarantees on the dogs he sells.Even though his dogs are West German and mostly show lines, they do have Sch titles. The second breeder is just a show breeder and his dogs look hideous, just like most American shepherds look.I did not look too closely because I felt slightly sick after seeing some of his females with their butts dragging on the ground, but, I did not see any working titles such as Sch, IPO, VPG, etc..The difference between the two dogs, German and American, is that German dogs are bred for temperament, stable nerves, working ability and looks, while American dogs are bred for none of the things that a REAL shepherd should have! While it is true that the majority of breeders in West Germany have stuck their heads in the conformation toilet, they still breed better dogs then what you will find here.I find the fact that you consider shipping dogs to be a bad thing disturbing...how are they suppose to get here from Europe if not shipped? There is nothing wrong with shipping a healthy, stable dog anywhere, it is done thousands of times a year!!Hope I helped.

I like the 1st ones betterEuropean lines typically are more intelligent and have less health problems, such as with the hips and life span. Pretty much any police dog you see will be from some European lines, due to intelligence, looks and also excellent health. Go for what suits your family best, go ahead and check out the puppies and see which litter you like the best. I have a shepherd from Czech lines that we use for protection work, but we only got her because she suits our family best. =] Either way, you are getting an excellent puppy. Hapy hunting!

The Choice of Breeder is completely up to you not us. l cannot open that site at all so cannot help you there.Check on his prefix with the German Shepherd Club of America and if he is a member he may be OK.Also check on the American website AKC and see if he is listed there also.If not with either do not touch him with a ten foot pole.German shepherd do suffer from some hereditary diseases esp HD so ask if the health tests his breeding males and females and if not forget it.ASking that much as a deposit contravenes the AKC regulations for selling dogs so l would be very reluctant to pay that amount of money up front as if you do not like the puppy you are out of pocket.Temperament of German shepherd is all important and if you wish a good tempered dog and the Breeder raises them correctly than it is your choice.Just because he has imported does not mean he has top dogs have a look at what he has won in the Show ring if anything and if he does not show and cannot provide the health certificates or has a return or refund policy avoid that Breeder.Websites are packaging nothing else and if he is prepared to send puppies to people he has never met or knows nothing about them am not impressed as l screen people so carefully l rarely will send one overseas or interstate unless a n awful lot of info and communication has been done. There is no thing as a American german shepherd they originated in Germany and used to be called Alsatians. Some top breeders may have started with some imported stock and b reed top winning dog plus guarantee temperament and health. You are doing the right thing going down to have a look and inspect the property carefully and look where pups are born and raised and do not take his word for it and look at the conditions the dogs are kept in esp if there is dirt around or they look scruffy. It is amazing how people advertise so cleverly and their website is nearly libel.Be careful and do not jump in straight away until you Talk to the German Shepherd Club of American re this Breeder. They will give you all the info you need.Do your research carefully and realize it boils down to correct training as a puppy and before you get the puppy how the Breeder raises his puppies and takes care of them. For this price l woud expect inoculations, microchipping, worming, contract and return policy and health certificates of parents and the parents had better be top winning show dogs who are champions and are clear of any hereditary diseases.Good luck

Default What German Shepherd Breeder looks better?

Let me say first that I make no claims to be an expert on the subject, but I'll help you as best I can as someone who has grown up with German shepherds my whole life and has worked as a pet groomer for a few years now. It's tough to really say which place would be better just by going by websites, and frankly I would never trust a place that would blindly send one of their puppies out to any old person without first meeting them, so needless to say the first place is raising some red flags for me. Even though you do know someone who has purchased a German shepherd from them before I would still be a bit wary. Real breeders care about the dogs first and foremost by ensuring that all of their dogs go to good and loving homes and try to eliminate health problems from the lines. Which brings up another reason why I'm not sure I trust the first breeder; the lack of encouragement for spaying/neutering. I'm a strong supporter of spaying/neutering any dogs that are going to be family pets. I'd get more into it, but I don't want this to turn into too much of a rant. The other website doesn't give as much information, so I can't comment on them as much unfortunately. The important thing, in either case, is that you go to meet both families and ask many, many questions! Ask to see the bitch, the stud (if possible) living quarters, etc. Ask about health certifications, hip dysplasia, vet records, and anything else you can think of. You already seem to know the importance of doing your research before buying an animal that is going to become part of your family for 10+ years, but I just want to reiterate. As for the differences between German and American German shepherds this website should help; http://www.workingdogs.com/lshaw1.htm butGerman German shepherds tend to be of a larger build, while American German shepherds tend to be longer and leaner, in general, but even then there can be differences in lines within those groups so it's tough to say.So in closing I want to again stress the importance of seeing where your future puppy came from first hand as well as doing as much research as you can. Those two things are infinetly more important then someone's opinion of a website. At the end of the day, however, sometimes it just comes down to instinct. If you have a bad feeling about a place, listen to it-no matter how much those cute puppies pull at your heart strings.Good luck!
