Adam Curtis, in his final words in the BBC documentary entitled "The Trap" mentioned that there are only two groups that consistenly behave in a manner predicted by game theory. One was the economists themselves who had studied game theory, and the other was psychopaths.Having had a bottle of fine spumante and some time to ponder this, I have come to the question of whether this was a proper repudiation of the theory itself. So much of behavioral modelling of markets and politics are based upon our concept of game theory that it makes me wonder if the very basis is valid enough to bear such social burdens upon which we have placed.Being of magnanimous and benevolent spirit, obviously baccan induced, I decided to entice my fellow members of humanity to enjoin me in my endeavors to ponder such matters of overwhelming magnitude and scope. To solicit the cogitations and emotions of fellow pedestrians to the criticisms at hand. Do you believe that this is a valid repudiation of game theory or do you prefer to defer to the experiences of those who still believe in it?Any answers reflecting upon this matter of seemingly picayunity but with far reaching import is greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance for your contributions. My humble apologies for my wine induced diction.

oh my... you don't try to write for light readers! Game theory, despite it's seeming dependence on assumptions is the product of experiment more than any specific thought process...unlike other areas, with game theory, it's as easy to test a hypothesis, as it is to debate it. thus, it's moved along nicely, and is focused on practical application rather than the reasoning or theory of why these formula's work. In most other areas, people think of things, and test it in a controlled, then open environment. With game theory, it's backward. people do things first, then we study them in practice, then think about the reasoning behind it.Consequently, Game theory obeys Occam's razor morose than any other area of math or science. And, for all it's complexities, it is undeniably effective and at times, painfully obvious. all you have to do is watch it in practice. people who use it aren't basing their actions on a hunch, they know specifics of what will happen after every action, and thus, act for optimal results.
