I have a bottle of 1983er Weinheimer Holle white grape wine and I was wondering if anyone knows what it may be worth or if anyone has any information about this wine at all. Here is every thing that it says on the bottle since I dont know much about wine. 1983er Weinheimer Holle Scheurebe White Eiswein Grape Wine. Product of Germany exclusively for Wine shippers of Chicago. Imported by G.E. Imports Company Elk Grove, Illinois Bottled by Rainer Rodrian, Weinheim West-Germany. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how much it would be worth, but I can tell you that it is an ice wine, which means the grapes have been allowed to freeze naturally on the vine and are pressed while frozen thereby concentrating the sugars and acids in the juice. It is a dessert wine with a high residual sugar. Scheurebe is the grape variety. Eiswein (icewine) usually cellars well, but after 25 years, it has probably reached or surpassed its peak, and if it hasn't been cellared properly, it might not have even survived this long. I'd drink it soon.

This may have been a private bottling specifically for 'Wine Shippers of Chicago'. I can't find anything about it on Wine Spectator, Cellartacker, WineZap, or Wine-Searcher, so I can't really imagine it would be worth much money at all. It's an Eiswein, which means it's a sweet dessert wine. It's probably one of those wines that you should enjoy on your own. If it's still good, it would be great with grilled caramelized peaches, a fresh berry tart, apple crisp, or an apple turnover. ~Cheers!~
