I saw this in my local liquor store and thought I might try it, but it is about $25 a bottle, and they don't have it in airplane bottles. It is a German import, the bottle is wrapped in some kind of basket and the cap looks like a plastic beehive. I can't recall the name, but if anyone knows of it, can you recommend it before I spend my itty bitty paycheck on it?

It is called meed and they say there is a baby in every bottle, so be careful!!! It was, in the olden days, traditionally drunk in the uk on honeymoon. It is very sweet and has a strong honey taste. If you like your drink very sweet and tasting of honey, go for it!!! x

I've had cheap mead and pricey mead and I hated both. Friends picked up the two for a party and liked the pricier mead better than the cheap stuff. One person loved the cheap mead and took it home. So tastes are all over the place, I guess. Alternately, Wild Turkey has a honey and bourbon liqueur that I absolutely loved. If you like really sweet liqueurs, you might give it a try. I think I'd pick up something a bit more reasonable. If you like that, you can assume the German stuff would be even better. There's no way to tell for sure, though.

I have it in my cupboard."Barenjager"Put it in tea or coffee when you have a cough that won't quit.Horehound tea tastes bad but with this in it, it is the best thing for stopping a very bad cough. It is also good just to warm up a might.I always have it on hand. $21.00 per bottle bit lasts a long time. Don't get it just to get drunk on, even though it is 35% or 70 proof which ever way you measure the alcohol.Enjoy
