Default Should the world be more concerned with the state of the honey bee?

Specifically, the worlds greatest superpower reportedly has to import honey bees from Australia !Very little actual funding is occuring for research of the real causes, according to tv documentary ? Is this still true ? It seems many US beekeepers are very concerned and their businesses totally reduced as a result of this.To me this is a real eye opener, its not just some lame e-business thats at threat here. Its the whole area of our ecosystem we are talking about, we might as well be talking about there being no fish in the sea (although, thats possible too either overfishing or other issues). Its likely at least partly this has something to do with agressive agriculture ? Whether specifically pesticides or not seems to be very open to question, but the beekeepers seem to be have a suggestion it has something to do with it. Urgent research is now needed.Isnt it about time the worlds most "advanced" societies actually stood up and did something about this rather pressing problem? What happens when Australias bees diminish too? Will we be reduced to eating only certain foods or will it have such a major impact that every species survival could be in question ?

Well the sudden and unexpected decline of the American and European bee populations is a huge issue mainly due to their prominent roles as pollinators. Namely, if the bees diminished to a point where they were no longer the top pollinator, then all of our agricultural crops would suffer serious losses. It's true that we need to do something, but the problem isn't human-caused, so most people don't feel the need and don't know what to do.

Since the Honeybee is the state insect of my state, Wisconsin, I say yes. Then again, the things aren't even native to WI, so I'm not sure why it would be our state insect...
