I've spent the better part of the last half dozen years working overseas in Food and Beverage, and just came back to the US. My biggest strength right now is the network of skilled industry people I've built up in this time, but in the regular course of my job, I get next to no opportunity to put this into play, and I'm curious as to in what positions or segments of the industry this would be more useful. I was thinking maybe product (food, wine) import/export. Any ideas?Interesting ideas. Anyone else?

hmm, interesting. here are some ideas:CREATE YOUR OWN JOB: write it out - your vision of the ideal job, using ALL of your skills - then send a 1 ONE PAGE - pitch letter to organizations who could employ you - spell out specific BENFITS - ie MONEY for them -what's in it for THEM? Most mportantly - decide WHERE DO YOU WISH TO LIVE? as this will determine much of what is available. First -think about positions with Food & Beverage MEDIA / publications - both trade publications for the hospitality, hotel industry as well as consumer publications such as Gourmet Magazine. Most of these publications are based in NYC. Check out cable TV shows as well -send them a pitch letter -hey who kknows? just a stamp. 2ndly - look at Public Relations / Ad Agencies which service food and beverage products. -also most are based in NYC. 3rdly - look at TRADE COMMISSIONz-every country in the world - has attached to its embassy or UN Mission -the TRADE COMMISSION - with staff specifically assigned to certain segments - such as the Australian Trade Commissioner / Commercial Attache' assigned to promote Australian Wines. With food and bverage background - also look into the MEETINGS Industry -t he special events industry. Best source of info/ jobs is MPI, Meeting Professionals International the global professional body for this industry. Jobs at Convention Centers, Destination Management Companies, Convention and Visitors Bureaus, etc.
