How much rice? I heard we export more rice to China that they grow. And that most of that is grown in Arkansas. Are farmers really paid not to grow food so the prices of wheat and corn don't plummet? How much of what we grow is for livestock? I was told that in America, we eat 1,000,000 animals every hour! That's staggering! How much food and fresh water does it take to sustain thse animals until they are old enough for slaughter? My head is reeling with this.

Many farmers in my area have switched to growing corn because they anticipate an ethanol plant being built closeby. So the crops that they originally produced will be sacrificed in the name of greed. It doesn't matter that the facts do not support efficiency in producing ethanol. We are losing production of foods that can feed people. What a sad commentary on the state of the world.
