You can use any kind of rice. It's a matter of preferences. Be aware that the cooking time and the amount of liquid.Rice, butter and a stock of your choice is more than enough to make a risotto. I'd say that onions are a must but you can make a risotto without them. All the rest, is up to you. I cook risotto as a side dish, so I never put meat in it. As for cheese, I like a mix. One soft cheese, that I add at the end of the cooking to complete melt it, and a hard cheese grated to sprinkle on top.

Yes, you do need olive oil, I use white wine also, so if you don't have anything against wine, it's not bad to have it too..And of course you need salt and pepper...I use Parmesan cheese...Oh yea, and butter. I also use shallots and not onions...As for rice, I use Arborio...^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I got rice (but what kind do i need to use ????), some cream and some good imported cheese , chicken meat , tomatoes , onions, and spices.Do i need to get any other stuff like olive oil , butter , ? What cheese is recommended ?
