Can I enter the USA with My Convictions
Hello thereThere's quite a few similar questions already on this forum. (I suspect one of them may have brought you here in the first place.)As I understand it...If you've ever been arrested (even if totally innocent) or convicted of any offence (except very minor motoring offences), you are ineligible to enter the USA under the Visa Waiver Program. If you are ineligible for the Visa Waiver Program, the US embassy website states that you must apply for a visa. If you have a criminal conviction, the visa application is long and complicated. You apply, pay a fee for police records and arrange an interview with the US Embassy in London. (By this time, many weeks are likely to have passed already.) After interview, you then have to wait a minimum of a further 8 weeks for a decision during which time you won't have your passport (so you won't be able to travel overseas at all).
