Default Do I have a computer virus? and if i do what can i do?

I always use my task bar search engine, yahoo, and when I get the results I click on the link yet sometimes it leads me to another search engine like moot...ex: I I search dairy queen and get the company website, I'll click on it yet it'll lead me to alibaba or moot or something that has to do with selling or another search engine!I'll have to refresh the page several times to actually get to the website. Also on sometimes my computer fan will start really fast and a bunch of popups of the same website will come up and I'll have no alternative than to shut it down. Sometimes when the fan is also runnning very fast, it'll just turn off by itself. My windows defender says I have no virus but I'm not so sure, please help. Thanks

As soon as you suspect that your computer has a virus, remove your computer from any networks it might be on, as well as from the Internet, so that you don't inadvertently spread the bug to others. Unplug your network cable if you have to.If you have virus-scanning (anti-virus) software installed, run it.If you don't have anti-virus software, you'll need to obtain some. If you can't get it from a network administrator or download it from an uninfected computer, you can mail-order it from a retailer.Start your computer (still not connected to a network) and follow the instructions that came with the anti-virus software.Keep running the virus-scanning software until your computer comes up clean.Reconnect your computer to the Internet and check with the anti-virus software's publisher to make sure you have the latest updates. If not, download them nowAfter updating the anti-virus software, run it again until your computer comes up clean.

sadly windows defender is mainly only for spyware and it isnt good at that really, check out http://www.os-optimize.com/ for their recommended programs for anti-virus. once you install that then run it and make sure to delete whatever comes up unless you know it isnt a virus, also uninstall your toolbar and any other add ons and reinstall them again. hope i helped.

Delete temp files then run a defrag.Run a scan with antivirus in safe-mode,to zap them if there are any, before they enable at start up.

Download AVG Antivirus, which is free for personal use.Download Spybot Search and Destroy, which is also free. Also, try Housecall Antirvirus, which is a web-based virus scanner online for free. You may just have a spyware program which has changed your default search engine. I'd tell you how to fix that, but the spyware may just hijack it again, so you will need to clean it with Spybot first. Also, changing your default search engine depends on what browser, and which version of that browser you're using.I highly recommend using Firefox 3. It is nice, safe and secure.I also recommend installing a HOSTS file, and installing Adblock Plus in Firefox.

I am not sure that you have a virus, you probably have tons of spyware and adware on your computer. They are basically advertising techniques. A great FREE tool to use is advance system care. http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.htmlJust download this and click scan, It will remove you spyware, do a registry fix, do a privacy sweep and get rid of junk files on your computer. Doing this will make your computer faster and safer. It will also scan your security and tell you if its safe or if there is any hacked settings on your computer. It will defragment your computer as well and make it work faster. This program is highly ranked by editors, you should give it a try.If this doesnt work then try using a different internet browser, you can download firefox, or google chrome or internet explorer and see if the same thing happens with that browser. Also you can go buy a internet security program like Norton, or Panda internet security. Most payed programs can find viruses that your windows defender wont find. I personally like Panda, but there are some good free internet security programs, just go on yahoo answers and look up what the best free internet security program is and download it.Your computer fan runs really fast when your computers temperature sensor says the computer is getting to hot and after the fan cools the computer to the right temp. it will either slow down a lot or turn of for little bit, just make sure your computers air vent is clean and is not covered or have tons of dust covering it, it there is tons of dust just suck it up with a vacuum and that should help with your computers temp. problem.

If the problem of the virus in your computer then delete your network from any computer may, and from the Internet, so you do not inadvertently spread to other people's mistakes. Unplug the network cable, if you have to.If you have a virus scanner (anti-virus) software installed, run it.If you do not have anti-virus software, you need to get some. If you are not a network administrator or from an uninfected computer to download, you can mail to your computer from retailer.
