Yes, I've started using Yelp in Edinburgh and it's much more social than other sites/groups. The Yelp team here in Edinburgh hold regular events for Yelp users to experience new bars, restaurants etc. It's a bit like Meet Up groups, but better. I trust Yelp reviews more too, as reviewers profiles are often more detailed..
