Our home-made itinerary for our honeymoon was: Flight from the UK via Bangkok to Hanoi (3 nights), overnight Victoria hotel luxury train to Sapa then 2 nights there, day train back to Hanoi (1 night), train to Hue (2 nights), drive over to Hoi An via Hai Van pass/Marble Mountain, Hoi An (3 nights), flight to HCMC (3 nights), two-day trip into Mekong Delta, back to HCMC (1 night), then flight from HCMC back to Bangkok. Looking back, I wish we had visited Ha Long bay, but we chose Sapa instead, as it seemed less touristy and also we wanted to trek to some of the small minority villages in the area. Also, if we had had longer, I would have liked to spend more time int he Mekong Delta..
