I spent a month last year in California. We flew into LA, stayed there a couple of nights, then got a train to San Diego, was there for 5 nights, hired a car and drove up the pacific coast highway staying in various places.Almost a week in San Fran, a few days at Lake Tahoe, vegas for 5 nights after staying in Death Valley.Loved it.They can also do the much talked about route 66, but its a lot of driving.
