Get some smartwool or wigwam socks, seriously sturdy boots, long silk underwear to wear under jeans and definitely a down jacket. You will need to layer a lot. With the wind chill it will be well below 0 degrees (farenheit!) sometimes for weeks on end. Do not underestimate how cold it will be! I'm originally from Hawaii but have lived in Maine for about 20 years...it never gets easier! Good luck .
