Not my personal story, but my boyfriend went to Africa yeaaarss back. They stayed in some fancy hotel but got talking to one of the waiters.He invited them to their house (a shack, pretty much) and put on some massive feast for them, with his whole family. They wrote letters for years afterwards.They said the family were just amazing, he loved life, and his job and it really put things into perspective for them. A few of the staff invited them to their houses but they were a bit uncomfortable knowing they'd put on these massive feasts, blow loads of money etc etc. So instead they just drank in the bar.If ever I moan about work I get the story...when I was in Africa there was a waiter who worked 12 hours a day just to pay rent on his shack and feed his kids, you've never met a happier family.
