Eco Trek
As trekking in the Himalaya is attracting more and more people, Eco-friendly practices has become more essential. Increase of tourists on the trekking trail has increased consumption of local resources such as firewood, constructions materials, manpower etc. This will have adverse effects on its self sustaining capacity of the village. First of all alternate energy for firewood must be adopted by lodges and camping groups. That will stop deforestation. The other problem comes with increased number of tourist is garbage disposition. The trekking regions are littered with all short of biodegradable as well as non-degradable wastes. Proper disposal of especially non-degradable wastes have become real challenge. Conservation areas and National parks have been paying high price to collect and carry them down from the Himalayan mountains. So tourists are requested to carry their wastes back to the place where it could be recycled or disposed.
There are several other issues that must be addressed to keep the Himalayan environment intact for the future generation.
We will be glad if you people out there could give some inputs about Eco-friendly practices while trekking.
