Sunshine Coast
If anyone is thinking about heading to the Sunshine Coast (and I recommend you do!) consider basing yourself in Mooloolaba. I've been here for three weeks now, and love it. Mooloolaba is small enough that it escapes the proper built-up feeling of a city, but big enough to have plenty of facilities and shops. The beach at Mooloolaba is amazing, has some good surf and is patrolled every day, so it's a good place to go for a swim or just chill out. There are also other activites such as boat trips, fishing, and nearby attractions like Australia Zoo, Aussie World and Buderim Ginger. If you're looking for somewhere cheap and fun to stay, try Mooloolaba Backpackers(search Google using the above name, I can't post web link!). It's the only hostel in Mooloolaba and is only 5 mins from the beach. They have free kayak, bike and surfboard hire, and there is always something happening every evening, be it delicious food or party games.
