Visiting Sydney in wet season
For your information, the beaches that may have pollution problem after HEAVY rain are the harbour beaches, the storm water flows into them. However, the coastal beaches (which accounts for about 90% of Sydney's beaches) do not have this problem as the rainwater and storm water is washed out to sea pretty quickly. I have lived in Sydney my whole life and have NEVER had a problem with becoming sick after swimming in the ocean (even after rain)... You're more likely to be stung by a blue bottle jellyfish than get sick from the water!.
