Hi, I am booking a trip from Toronto to Rio de Janeiro. There is no direct fly. I am now looking at United Airlines flight 861 from Washington DC (IAD) to Rio (GIG) and flight 860 from Rio (GIG) to Washington DC (IAD). The connecting flight I am looking at is also from the United, flight 7642 is from Toronto (YYZ) to IAD and flight 8547 is from DCA to YYZ. On returning from Rio, I may need to travel from DCA to IAD. The question is how convenient is it to commute from IAD to DCA? Are there any commuting trains/bus a passenger could use? If not, what is the most convenient and cost-effective way of commuting? How long the trip might take? I am thinking of leaving 4 hours for the commuting, is it enough? Other than United, are there any better ways to fly to Rio? Thanks.
