Default Travel to Canada first time, want to know?

Want to see fantastic fall foliage in Montreal, Ottawa area next week.

1. Can I use US currency in Canada or I must change ?
2. Are there problems to go around Quebec in English?
3. Can I use US cell phone in Canada? do carriers charge international fee or roaming fee? I have T-mobile and Sprint.
4. What is weather in Montreal area now?
5. How much is gas in Canada?

Thanks for your answers.

1) Hope you trip is for 2008, it's past peak in Montreal.
2) The bigger the city the easier it will be able to get by without knowing french. However, trying goes a long way.
3) You can use your cell, however, it's going to be expensive. Get a calling card and use public phones.
4) Want to know the weather? Use yahoo weather and type in Montreal, it will tell you everything you need to know.
5) About $2.00US a litre.

1. You'll need Canadian Dollars,
2. If you are worried about it. Why don't you go to Toronto instead.
3. Check your carrier's plan.
4, High about 60F. Low about 45F.
5. About $1 a liter $3.78 a gallon

1) yes you can use it in most places BUT as of 19/10/2007 the exchange was $1 CDN = $1.04 US. Use ours its colourful and you won't get burned on the exchange too badly.
2) yep there can be problems with some people and places so forewarned is forearmed
3) most likely you will get burned on the roaming rates but Canada and the US should be treated as domestic roaming rather than international roaming call your provider there may be agreements with Canadian providers.
4) 20/10/2007 @ noon overcast and isolated showers and about 20 deg C
5) gas is about $1.00 CDN or about $4.00 for a US gallon.

I live about an hour away from both Montreal & Ottawa and there are still lots of trees with colour and lots of green still left on the trees. BUT they are starting to change fast, last Saturday a neighbour's tree was still green today its bare.

1. It depends where you are, if your in a tourist area, they'll take both, but if your not in a tourist destination, then i dont think they will accept american money

2. again, it depends where you are, but i doubt it, unless your going into the far north (which opparintly your not), all signs, and things like that are in both french and english, and most quebecers speak both langauges, and again if your gonna be in a place with a lot of tourists then english will probably be spoken more than french

3. you would have to check your provider and/or your plan

4. well i just checked and today is 17C , the highs and lows of the next few days are.....

20C | 11C Sun

22C | 12C Mon

17C | 10C Tues

you have have to check to forcast before you go though. (and sorry, im not sure what C is in F)

5. it depends where you are, but im not sure what it is in the area your going, since i dont live there
