You need to get a sharps box - your pharmacist or doctor should be able to point you in the right direction

Put them in a coffee can, and when it's full, put the lid on and use duct tape to tape it down and secure it. Then use a permanent marker and write "Biohazard" on it. While traveling, use a small coffee can. In a pinch, you can also use milk jugs, as long as you have a lid.

You can get a sharps container from your pharmacist or doctor, and wal-mart sells travel-size sharps containers in the diabetic supplies area. If you can't get one of those, anything with a lid and made of strong, sturdy, materials, like coffee cans, most soda bottles, or even thick cardboard cookie boxes can work, as long as you bend the needle before putting it in the container. Just be sure the lid is properly secured, and the container is clearly labelled before disposal. Hope this helps!

Laundry detergent or fabric softener bottles work really well as Sharps disposal. Even a small bottle will take a very long time to fill up. Take permanent marker and write SHARPS on both sides of the bottle. When it is full use glue to permanently stick on the lid. Then check with your doctor as to disposal. Each state has its own rules on this.

As for disposal in foreign country, take another medicine bottle with the "child proof" cap on it. Put the needles in the bottle til you can get home. I do this even when traveling in USA! Going to daughters house or sons house or where ever I might have to go.

BD makes a little gadget called a Safe T Clip or something like that. After you use the needle, you put it into this thing that clips the needle part off. You then put the clear part back onto where the needle was and twist it off the pen. You can then put it into a garbage bag and dispose of it in the garbage because there's no needle on there anymore. Sorry I don't have the right name, but you can buy them at a pharmacy and they're pretty cheap. After it fills with needles (it holds a whole year's worth), you just toss it away. It already has biohazard on it. I've used them for years. When I use the syringes I use it to clip the needles off the syringes. I put the syringes into a coffee can and when it's full I tape it up. No needles for anybody to get stuck with.
