I plan on flying from panama to ecaudor and then travelling by land to chile, argentina, peru, bolivia, and brazil. What countries charge you for a visa to visit the country?

The answer depends on what country you come from. For passport holders from most western countries you will not have to pay for any of these except for Brazil. Americans have to pay $100 for Bolivia (but nobody else does). To be sure just check immigration websites for each country.

If you are an American citizen, you need a visa to enter Brazil. You must pay a processing fee of US$130.00 in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a tourist visa to the U.S..
You will also need a Yellow Fever International Immunization certificate. It recommends a Yellow Fever vaccination at least 10 days prior to arrival to the following regions: all the states of the Northern Midwestern regions and Maranhão and Minas Gerais, the regions southwest of Piauí, west of Bahia, west of Parana, west of Santa Catarina, northwest of Rio Grande do Sul and northwest of São Paulo.

Good Trip!
