Default how does a UK citizen remain in the USA after marrying an American on a travel visa??

My husband and I faced a similar situation; he is from Canada, was here visiting to accompany me to a large family reunion, and we decided to get married. We had talked about getting married well before that, but hadn't set anything in stone at all. He didn't come here with the intent of marriage, is my point. It must be taken into consideration, as well, that he did not require any kind of visa to visit me, which I'm sure helped to lessen any complications.

If you marry him, go ahead and start filing his I-485, and other necessary applications, to get the process started. He may or may not have to return to the UK during the processing time - the USCIS will tell you which he must do. Be aware that your marriage may be under more scrutiny since he was here on a travel visa, so do try to amass proof that he did NOT come here with the sole intent of marrying you (if he came here simply planning to spend time with you visitig theme parks, local attractions, family events, etc., these can help prove that he did not come here with the intent to marry).

Since he is from the UK, and I'm assuming has a clean record, you should have less trouble, to be honest. Good luck, and please, make SURE everything you do is legal!
