http://www.jewelryexchange.com/category.aspx?catID=121&gclid=CNTtyPeZ-48CFTgrOAodFU88LwThis is a great website and they also have several stores around the country. You buy direct so you save a ton of money. You can buy loose diamonds or sets, it's really up to you. Just to be warned though, I have heard if you do go into the store, the sales people make it hard to leave without you making a purchase, so research before you buy. Good luck and Congratulations!

The first lady suggested jewelry exchange, and I think that's a good call too. IMO, you don't need the certification it's just a way they jack up the price and they sell those (House Certified diamonds). Unless your future fiance is a jeweler she won't notice the difference between a similarly rated stone that's certified and uncertified. (Reputable) Pawnshops are good too because they buy it for a third of the appraised value and sell it for full price. So if you're a good negotiator you can get a diamond at a good price.

Where are you located? I can give you my jeweler's info. He's awesome and he is less expensive than most jewelery stores out there. (He was the only person who didn't balk when my husband told him what he wanted to buy. All the other jewelers tried to convince my husband to go with a lesser quality stone.)
